The ren'youkei + たがる (tagaru) means "to want", and
expresses the desire of the "third person": He, she, it,
or they. The auxiliary verb たがる (tagaru) is a yodan katsuyou (or
group 4) verb and is conjugated accordingly.
Unlike with extensions like ren'youkei + て (te) and ren'youkei
+ た (ta), there are no contractions with たがる (tagaru). The ~たがる
(-tagaru) form cannot be used with verbal adjectives.

Ren'youkei + たがる (tagaru) and the polite
form
The ren'youkei + たがる (tagaru) can only be made polite by adding
ます (masu) to its ren'youkei conjugation. You cannot add たがる to the
polite verb ます (masu).

Ren'youkei + たがる (tagaru) and the negative
form
The ren'youkei + たがる (tagaru) can only be made polite by adding
ない (nai) to the mizenkei conjugation of たがる (tagaru). You cannot
add たがる to the ren'youkei conjugation of ない (nai) because ない is
a verbal adjective.
